At this year’s SHOT Show in Las Vegas, we showcased our portfolio of high-performance steel grades for knives, tools, and other components. The event brought together the experts, craftsmen, and manufacturing companies in the knife industry, and for us, it was a fantastic opportunity to interact with our customers and partners and share how our material makes a difference.

A strong portfolio – prepared for future challenges

We are proud to offer a portfolio with 10 leading knife steel grades. Each steel grade is carefully developed to meet the specific requirements of various knife applications. This versatility makes our materials the obvious choice for many knife manufacturers where precision and reliability are crucial.

We have been producing cold-rolled knife steel for over 100 years. We work closely with our customers, listening to their needs and taking great pride in our steel grades, which provide the materials to meet their challenges and requirements.

At SHOT Show 2025, we were pleased to demonstrate that Alleima not only delivers steel grades – we also provide materials that pave the way for innovation and progress in the industry.

Our hardened and tempered stainless steel family Chromflex

One of the standout product families we highlighted at the show was Chromflex™ – our hardened and tempered martensitic chromium steels known for exceptional properties. The Chromflex family includes four grades, Alleima® 7C27Mo2, Alleima® 13C26, Alleima® 12C27, Alleima® 6C27, each with its own distinguishing characteristics.

They deliver high-strength, pre-hardened martensitic chromium steels that are packed flat, ready to use, and built to withstand extreme stresses. With no need for heat treatment, they save time while ensuring top-quality performance—making them the perfect choice for high-demand applications.

By using our pre-hardened and tempered steel, the knife manufacturer can save time and reduce production costs. This eliminates the hours spent on in-house heat treatment or the expenses of outsourcing this process. Since we control the entire heat treatment process, we ensure greater consistency in hardness and strength, leading to superior repeatability across different batches.

Additionally, this material enables the production of thinner blades while maintaining durability and performance. By choosing our steel, manufacturers benefit from increased efficiency, reliability, and precision in every batch.

Popular knife steels

At the show, we saw a lot of interest in Damax, our stainless Damascus steel specially developed for premium knives. Damax is a Damascus steel made from Alleima® 7C27Mo2 and Alleima® 19C27, combining the strength and performance of these two grades. It offers both aesthetics and outstanding performance and is used in both outdoor and kitchen knives.

Customers highlight the sharpness, durability and corrosion resistance as qualities that make it the obvious choice for discerning knife makers. Knifemakers can significantly reduce forging time by using our pre-forged Damax, eliminating hours of labor-intensive work while maintaining the uniqueness of Damascus blades.

Unlike traditional methods that lock the maker into a predefined pattern, our pre-forged Damascus steel offers complete flexibility to develop and refine the desired Damascus pattern. This allows for creative freedom without being restricted to a fixed design.

Quality through collaboration

Our participation at the SHOT Show was more than just showcasing products - it was about connecting with partners, understand their needs, and hearing firsthand how our steel performs in their applications. We spoke with numerous customers using our materials, and their testimonials reinforced the value of quality and long-term collaboration.

A future of opportunities

We leave SHOT Show 2025 inspired by new opportunities. With our latest innovation Damax, top appreciated blade steels like 12C27 and 14C28N as well as our appreciated product family Chromflex, we remain committed to driving advancements with high-performance materials together with our partners.
