Innovative changes for the biggest difference

The Canadian hydrogen market is forecasted to accelerate and play a key part in tackling the world’s energy challenges in the years ahead.

Canada is one of the world’s top hydrogen producers. Its green hydrogen market is projected to increase by 41% from 2024 to 2030 and support for the industry is growing. The country has announced several construction projects for hydrogen refueling stations, supporting initiatives such as reaching 5,000 hydrogen vehicles in Western Canada in five years.

For hydrogen technical engineers and supply chain managers in Canada, choosing the right tubing materials that are strong and durable enough to withstand the demands of producing and distributing hydrogen can significantly reduce both capital and operational expenditure.

Using advanced material technology and engineering to support projects like hydrogen refueling station construction will help move the industry forward and advance the drive toward more sustainable energy production.

Alleima has extensive experience in developing products and engineering solutions for hydrogen applications. As a leading materials technology partner, we are at the forefront of advancing and industrializing the use of hydrogen across a wide range of applications.

Our materials, products, and solutions are well suited for all parts of the hydrogen supply chain – from production and distribution to hydrogen use. Our hydrogen grades have been engineered to address challenges like high pressure and hydrogen embrittlement. Currently, our primary focus is on processing, transport, and refueling stations, where speed, efficiency, and safety are critical.

Our on-site tubing solution – now available in Canada

To support the expansion of hydrogen refueling infrastructure in Canada, we have developed a machine that straightens coiled tubing and cuts it to the required lengths. It is mobile and can be easily transported to customer construction sites.

Utilizing a 20-foot container platform, the on-site tubing container is operated by our experts trained and experienced in straightening thick-wall coils. It can straighten high pressure thick-walled coils up to 1”.

Our mobile tubing container minimizes waste and enhances safety by incorporating extended-length tubes without couplings or weldings. Moreover, installation times are significantly reduced.

Our on-site tubing container has supported more than 70 hydrogen refueling station projects across Europe for customers like Linde, a leading industrial gases and engineering company. We recently introduced the service in Canada at the Canadian Hydrogen Convention in Edmonton, where we generated lots of interest. Feedback about the on-site tubing solution and our extensive expertise in hydrogen infrastructure was overwhelmingly positive.

Moving Canadian hydrogen forward

Hydrogen will be critical in meeting climate targets in Canada and globally. Our strong focus on hydrogen reflects our commitment to sustainability. We include over 80% recycled material and more than 96% fossil-free electricity in our sites. We also provide life cycle assessments (LCA) for our bar steel to support the increasing focus on sustainability.

By introducing our on-site tubing container to Canada, we’re empowering our Canadian customers to be more profitable, efficient, and sustainable.
