Alleima has set a target for circularity, aiming for more than 80% recycled steel in its finished products. Our steel manufacturing is primarily based on scrap. High-alloy and specialized steel require large shares of alloying materials, which are challenging to source on the scrap market.

High-alloy and specialized steel require large shares of alloying materials, which are challenging to source on the scrap market. We are exploring the separation of precious metals from slag for reuse in our operations and collaborating with customers to establish buy-back programs, aiming to reduce the need for virgin raw materials.

  • The share of recycled steel in finished products is 81%.
  • Alleima has manufacturing operations in one area categorized as a high level of water stress. To reduce this burden, water equivalent to approximately one-quarter of the annual requirement in this location is recirculated.

Alleima has set a target for waste circularity, aiming to divert 76% of waste from disposal by the end of 2030. Most of our waste comprises slag, which can be recycled and used for road paving. We are looking into separating precious metals from the slag for reuse in our operations.

In collaboration with customers, Alleima has established several buy-back programs, where we purchase materials from end-of-life products that have been analyzed and sorted for reuse in the production process.
