From Sanicro® 35 to SAF® 3007, Alleima is redefining reliability in the world’s toughest environments.

Shaping the Future of Materials in Oil & Gas

On 25 September 2025, engineers, specialists, and decision-makers from across the oil and gas supply chain joined Alleima’s exclusive Alloys for Oil & Gas Application Seminar 2025 in Rio de Janeiro.

The choice of Rio was significant. As home to some of the world’s largest offshore reserves and a hub for oil and gas innovation, the city provided the ideal backdrop for exploring how materials technology is shaping safer, more efficient, and more sustainable operations.

Why Material Choices Matter for Oil & Gas

Subsea and offshore environments demand materials that can withstand extreme pressures, corrosive conditions, and decades of service. The right material choice directly impacts lifecycle costs, safety margins, and sustainability outcomes.

At the Rio seminar, Alleima experts demonstrated how developments in advanced stainless steels and nickel alloys, supported by deep expertise, are enabling operators to achieve more efficient, more profitable, and more sustainable operations.

The message was clear: material selection is not simply a procurement choice; it is a strategic decision that drives operational resilience.

Our Technical Highlights from Rio

Presentations focused on how Alleima’s materials technology portfolio supports the oil and gas industry’s toughest environments:

  • Sanicro® 35: presented by Renata Mota, designed for highly corrosive environments to extend service life and reduce maintenance.
  • SAF® 3007: introduced by Murilo Simões, it is a solution for Umbilical that offers enhanced mechanical strength, reduced weight, and superior corrosion resistance — ideal for applications where safety and reliability are non-negotiable.
  • Production process insights: shared by Karla Guimarães, showing how small variations in tube manufacturing can significantly influence corrosion resistance and overall performance.
  • Control line performance: explained by Daniel Coelho, with SAF™ 2507 demonstrating resilience in downhole operations where consistency and reliability are vital.

The audience response confirmed the relevance of these topics. R&D specialists and engineers engaged actively, asking about corrosion behaviour, test results, and application examples. Several followed up after the event, seeking deeper technical data.

Alleima Seminars at the Forefront of Materials Innovation

Feedback showed a clear appetite for more. Attendees valued the opportunity to exchange knowledge and asked if the seminar could become an annual event. For many, the discussions reinforced trust in Alleima’s expertise. For others, it provided a first opportunity to understand how Alleima partners with customers to solve technical challenges.

Looking Ahead

Alleima’s ambition is to remain the number one materials technology partner for oil and gas. From Sanicro® 35 and SAF® 3007 to insights into production processes and sustainability-driven solutions, the Rio seminar showed that materials technology is at the heart of safer, more efficient, and more sustainable operations.

Beyond subsea and umbilical solutions, Alleima continues to expand its impact in areas such as OCTG and downstream applications.

Our heritage as innovators remains central to our identity. Our commitment is to never stop advancing, delivering the best quality, and putting customers first. Together with our customers, we are advancing industries through materials technology.

Alleima thanks all who participated and contributed to the discussions in Rio. The dialogue will continue through future seminars, collaborative projects, and the ongoing development of materials technologies designed for the world’s most demanding oil and gas environments.
