Alleima has received its first order of the Sanicro® 35 in China, for heat exchanger tubes for a recuperative heater in the tail gas treatment unit. Sanicro® 35 was chosen for its superior productivity, cost-effectiveness, and support for sustainability.

Alleima, a leading manufacturer of high value-added products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys as well as products for industrial heating, has secured its first major order for Sanicro® 35 (UNS N08935) super-austenitic alloy in China. This product particularly serves segments like Chemical and Petrochemical, Energy, Maritime, Aerospace, and Renewables.

Sanicro® 35 is a super austenitic stainless steel which combines high yield strength, resistance in severe acidic conditions, excellent pitting, and crevice corrosion, and bridges the properties gap between super austenitic steel grades and nick alloys. It provides a new, high-performance alternative to conventional materials to support more cost effective and efficient operations.

This order is for a recuperative heater in the tail gas treatment unit, which had experienced persistent challenges such as severe corrosion, frequent shutdowns, and yearly replacements. The original heat exchanger tubes were made from 316. Extensive evaluations of alternatives, including 904L and nickel-based alloys like C276, were conducted. Ultimately, Sanicro® 35 was chosen for its superior productivity, cost-effectiveness, and support for sustainability.

“Sanicro® 35 is a testament to our commitment to continuous innovation to meet industry demands. By closely partnering with our customer and leveraging our material development expertise, we identified their challenges, explored various alternatives, and determined
Sanicro® 35 as the optimal choice to replace the 316 heat exchanger tubes. This decision will enable them to boost productivity, enhance sustainability requirements, and enable cost-efficiency,” said Glenn Darley, Regional Sales Director for Tube Division, China & Marketing Manager for Tube APAC at Alleima.

“Alleima's investment in our new cold-finishing facility in Zhenjiang, China, proves it is a strategic move that aligns perfectly with our commitment to serving the ever-growing needs of the Chemical sector in the Asia Pacific region. We envision this investment as a vital step in furthering Alleima's presence in the region while contributing to the sustainable growth of the Chemical and Petrochemical segment. With our first order for Sanicro® 35 in China, we see this as just the beginning of a journey filled with new opportunities, partnerships, and a shared commitment to excellence,” said Sharath Satish, President, Business Unit Tube APAC, Alleima.
