The nitrogen and syngas industries are experiencing significant growth, driven by diverse applications across various sectors.

Rising global populations are placing additional pressure on nitrogen-based fertilizers, which are essential for enhancing crop yields. The drive for greater food security and sustainable agriculture has increased the demand for these fertilizers, which is forecasted to grow by almost 6% by 2034.

The market for ammonia produced from hydrogen is ready to accelerate, driven by the shift towards low-carbon solutions in line with concerns for the environment. The global hydrogen generation market is expected to grow by almost 10% to 2030. This increase is largely attributed to increasing applications in ammonia and methanol synthesis. It’s anticipated that clean ammonia could grow 22-30 fold this decade, reaching 32 million metric tons of capacity in 2030.

However, the higher production costs for green ammonia remain challenging, primarily due to the outlays associated with renewable energy. Reducing production costs and increasing the affordability of renewable energy will be a priority in advancing the industry.

To help drive the nitrogen and syngas industries forward, asset operators need innovative materials that have a long life in extreme conditions. They also seek sustainable, low-carbon solutions with a clear life cycle assessment as proof of supplier performance.

Alleima is recognized as a reliable provider of industry-leading advanced materials and sustainable LCA-supported solutions. We have a lengthy history of moving the nitrogen and syngas industries forward.

Alleima at Nitrogen+Syngas Expo Conference 2025

As one of the most respected technical events in the industry, CRU’s Nitrogen + Syngas has a proven track record of bringing together senior technical professionals from across the nitrogen and syngas value chain to share experience and best practices. It’s been supported by Alleima for over 20 years and represents one of the largest gatherings for the global nitrogen and syngas industry.

At this year’s event, the presentation by our Senior R&D Engineer Oscar Ohlin on advanced material solutions for optimized urea production - including our high-alloy duplex stainless steel SAF™ 2906 - was well attended and generated several insightful comments. The Nitrogen + Syngas Expo conferencewas also a good opportunity for us to meet potential and existing customers and discuss key industry trends.

Advancing Nitrogen and Syngas

Alleima has a dedicated portfolio of advanced and cost-effective material technologies designed to accelerate the urea, ammonia, and fertilizer industries. We continue to innovate through the ongoing development of new alloys.

Including, SAF™ 2906, a high-alloy duplex stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance in caustic environments and those containing chlorides. It is well-suited for the severe conditions in strippers used in urea production and is designed to enable an oxygen-free process, enhancing both output and safety. We also offer a wide range of stocked products for rapid turnaround.

With decades of success in supporting nitrogen and syngas, we’re exceptionally proud of where we’ve come from. And even more excited about where we can take you next.
