Joa Elfsberg, Manager for market service & planning, Alleima Striptech Sweden, Sandviken

Tell us about your current role and the journey that has brought you this far

I’ve played ice hockey with the Swedish Women's National Team for over ten years, so during that period, I had different types of jobs to fit my busy schedule. Since I couldn’t make a living out of playing ice hockey, I understood that I needed an education to, hopefully, improve my chances to fulfill my other dreams and goals in life.

I wanted to study something broad and decided on a Master of Business Administration, and after my studies, I worked as a financial assistant at a real estate contracting company. I worked full-time during the days and on evenings and weekends I played ice hockey. Working full-time and spending 20-25 hours in training every week was hard so I decided to end my career at age 32.

I had always dreamt of starting my own business, so I launched a company that helped smaller companies without a marketing department. I did this for a couple of years, wanted to build a family, got pregnant, and during my parental leave, I applied for a job at Sandvik as a flow manager at Tube and started that position in April 2015.

Being a flow manager is the best school for becoming a good manager. It's a really tough position that deserves more credit. After my years as a flow manager, I took on a role as a project manager for Strip before starting my current position.

Choosing Alleima was more of a coincidence, but now I am happy and proud to work for a global company with world-class products. With great career opportunities where I feel I can develop as a person and in my role.

What is your opinion of working at Alleima?

We deliver world-class products, products that are extremely difficult to produce. I think Alleima cares for its employees, and if you want, there are incredible opportunities to develop and take new steps in your career.

Which of our core values (We care, We deliver, We evolve) do you especially connect with, and why?

I have to say We deliver. The customers should get what is ordered, with the quality we promised, at the decided time. That is also one of the challenges I love most about my job!

How is Alleima advancing your growth and development?

Since it is a large global organization with different business areas, I think there are great opportunities to grow and explore new areas. I never thought I would work in a logistics department when I joined Alleima. Here you can grow into new roles and challenges because you have so many contacts around you.
