Heat exchangers play a critical role in process industries, including refineries, petrochemicals, and chemical plants. The materials used to fabricate heat exchangers must withstand harsh conditions, including high temperatures and corrosive environments.
Replacing damaged heat exchanger components like tubing can be time-consuming and expensive, especially if it happens frequently. That’s why using industry-leading advanced materials can be a more efficient, profitable, and sustainable option for extending the life of your tubes.
Advancing the Heat Exchanger Industry
Alleima has been providing tubing solutions for heat exchangers for many years. We know that working with duplex stainless steel can be challenging if not handled properly during fabrication, particularly in the welding of tubes to the tubesheet. That’s why we work hand-in-hand with our customers to engineer materials that deliver industry-wide breakthroughs in corrosion resistance and mechanical strength for heat exchanger applications.
It may sound obvious, but fabricators and end-users like to work with reliable andhigh-quality materials. Fabricators who recognize the benefits of advanced material technologies in leveraging market advantages are interested in solutions that move them forward. Advanced materials like our super-austenitic alloy Sanicro® 35 and our new SAF 3006™ high-alloy duplex stainless steel deliver corrosion resistance in acidic and caustic environments. Forward-thinking fabricators also see the value in working with local vendors that can support with both product availability and technical know-how.
Alleima at Heat Exchanger World Americas
The challenges and solutions for fabricators and end-users were among the topics discussed at the recent Heat Exchanger World Americas event in Houston, Texas. It was the largest gathering of fabricators in the Heat Exchanger industry. As a leader in domestic tubing options to the US market, it was important for us to attend this event, meet existing customers, and forge new connections.
We highlighted SAF 3006™ and Sanicro® 35 and visitors were keen to learn more about these grades and our wider portfolio of materials for moving heat exchanger projects forward. We had a mock u-tube bundle to demonstrate our tubing and guides that showed all the alloys that we offer.
Luiza Esteves, Technical Marketing Engineer, Alleima Tube Americas, delivered an insightful presentation titled, ‘An Overview of Special Material Requirements to Consider When Specifying Duplex Stainless-Steel Tubes’. The presentation was well received and highlighted our reputation as an industry leader with the alloy.
The technical sessions at Heat Exchanger World Americas focused on the fabrication of shell and tube heat exchangers, providing insights into the difficulties encountered in tube-to-tube sheet joints. Learning more about the challenges fabricators face when constructing shell-and-tube heat exchangers was also valuable. This knowledge will help us as we continue to push products and processes to advance the possibilities for our customers.
