Your Role

In this role, you will lead a team of highly skilled engineers and laboratory technicians, working together to develop new materials and solutions tailored to our customers' needs.

As R&D manager you are responsible for the operation and development of your team. To be successful, your focus will be on several items which all are vital for our ability to deliver to our clients, here are some examples:

  • Ensure a great environment, health, and safety in our workplace
  • Strategic planning of competence, method development and Investments, etc
  • Operational excellence, including team- and client collaboration
  • Engage in technical discussions with the team and its clients

The position will include extensive collaboration with skilled staff in Alleima’s central Strategic Research function as well as with the R&D units organized in the Alleima divisions Tube and Strip respectively.

The location of this position is Sandviken.

About You

Your educational background is MSc or PhD in the Science of Materials, Physics or Chemistry. You have a passion for materials characterization and the ability to lead a team of 10 highly skilled engineers and laboratory technicians. It is a requirement that you have experience in the fundamentals of Mechanical Metallography or Corrosion.

You have experience that have begun your path within operational and people management, such as project management or coordinating roles. Experience as line manager is advantageous. Additionally, experience of collaborating with several stakeholders and experience from leading in change is advantageous since we constantly need to adapt to changing demands.

We put great emphasis on your personality – characterized by traits enabling you to be a successful operations and people manager. You are a confident person with the ability to grasp the overall picture in order to make priorities and develop processes to best secure the delivery of the unit as well as the development of your team. You listen to understand, coach, develop and challenge your individual team members to reach the best of their potential as well as benefit the delivery of the unit. Additionally, you are structured and have a good sense of involving staff and peers in your work.
