Destructive Testing Laboratory Technician
In this role, the Destructive Testing Laboratory Technician will perform quality assurance laboratory services, through physical, chemical, and metallographic testing, on all products to certify quality and adherence to specifications in a production facility in Kennewick, WA (around 150 employees), specialized in producing the high precision titanium tube products for very demanding markets like Aerospace and Medical.
About the Role
The Destructive Testing Laboratory Technician will perform quality assurance laboratory services, through physical, chemical, and metallographic testing, on all products to certify quality and adherence to specifications supporting the Quality, Production, and Engineering departments in preparing certification packages to accompany our product to the customer.
Other Responsibilities:
Collecting and Preparing Test Samples.
Perform certification testing in accordance with approved procedures and customer specifications.
Maintain complete and accurate records of all tests and results, including physical and electronic records within computer databases.
Communicate with planning and sales departments to establish priorities for shipping needs.
Maintain consumables and supplies inventory, including ordering, restocking from Stores, and organizing laboratory consumables and supplies.
Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working order, including performing preventative maintenance tasks as needed.
Participate in PTP and Round Robin testing in accordance with customer requirements to maintain ASM's destructive testing qualifications with applicable customers.
Assist in improving and maintaining the quality of the products and the stature of the organization by ensuring all products meet and exceed minimum specifications as required by the customer.
Maintain laboratory 5S status to meet company standards
All employees are responsible for participating, supporting, and maintaining compliance to the company’s Quality, Environmental, and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, policies, procedures, programs, and activities as defined within the company’s published management system documentation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have 1 to 3 years of destructive testing laboratory experience, preferably working with metal alloys. An associate’s degree in science, a technical program, or equivalent experience is preferred. Experience in and understanding of software included with the Microsoft office package is required. To be successful in this role, you will need to be self-motivated and ready to take the initiative in this role. Your collaborative nature will allow you to work well with different departments and be comfortable interacting with stakeholders of all levels from the shop floor to the management team. Effective communication combined with an extremely high attention to detail is also needed as well as understanding and the ability to effectively communicate why and when plans change to fit our customer requirements.
What you can expect from us
The salary range for this position is $22.00 to $28.00 per hour annually with a 5% annual bonus and annual merit eligibility.
